PI Delivers Universal Navigator to NASA

PI Delivers Universal Navigator to NASA

December 2, 2003

Position Integrity, LLC today delivered the Universal Navigator multi-function display (MFD) as part of the wireless communications effort sponsored by NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) and led by Chicago-base Infinite Global Infrastructures, LLC (see previous press release, NASA Chooses PI for Multi-Function Aviation Display, March 31, 2003).  PI's Universal Navigator provides the base technology for this platform-independent geographic software display for aviation enabling real time weather and air traffic to be overlaid on a cockpit flight computer. The effort capstones a new capability developed by NASA GRC integration contractor Infinite Global Infrastructures, LLC to interface high-bandwidth satellite communication links into the cockpit. PI delivered two complementary applications that work in tandem to provide the real time data feeds from the ground as well as the graphical display in the cockpit.  The associated communication links of up to 2.0 megabytes per second will be demonstrated on NASA Langley's 757 test aircraft later this year.
