US NAVY Contracts with PI Team to Deliver IT-21 Software

July 16, 1997

The U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (Patuxent River, MD) today awarded a contract for $306,737 for Position Integrity Software development services and applications.  The effort is a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III follow-on to a previous $750,000 Phase II contract to provide JTIDS Moving Map and Tactical Display (JMMTIDS) software for the E-2C Hawkeye program.

Six systems will be delivered to the Commander Airborne Early Warning Wing Pacific as a prototype improvement to the Navy's premier "eyes in the sky."  Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet Admiral Archie Clemins personally witnessed the technology in action at his Pearl Harbor Navy complex.  Following the demonstrations, Admiral Clemons gave approval for the software to become a part of his Information Technology 21st Century (IT-21) initiative.
